5D/4N – Komodo Highlights
Aboard Shenron
About This Trip
Five days across the heart of Komodo — from current-swept pinnacles to silent volcanic reefs.
About This Trip
Five days, four nights and up to 14 dives exploring the very best of Komodo National Park — with no more than 8 guests aboard Shenron.
From April to October, we explore Central and North Komodo, including legendary sites such as Batu Bolong, Castle Rock and Crystal Rock. Expect thrilling currents, sharks, schooling fish and vibrant reefs. From November to March, we can venture south to the spectacular coral gardens and macro-rich waters of Nusa Kode, Cannibal Rock and Manta Alley.
Manta encounters are a highlight throughout the year, with visits to renowned cleaning stations and feeding grounds. The journey also includes a ranger-guided Komodo dragon trek, Pink Beach and, during the dry season, a sunrise hike on Padar Island.
Between adventures, enjoy chef-prepared meals, air-conditioned ensuite cabins and peaceful evenings anchored beneath the stars.
Our itinerary remains flexible, allowing our guides to choose the best sites for the conditions each day. No unnecessary rush — simply the best of Komodo, above and below the surface.

Before You Board
Your Komodo liveaboard adventure begins in Labuan Bajo, the main gateway to Komodo National Park.
Our team will share the final meeting time and boarding details before departure via email and WhatsApp.
Typical 5-day liveaboard itinerary aboard Shenron, departing from Labuan Bajo, with up to 14 dives.
Daily Itinerary
The expedition begins with two dives designed to ease you into Komodo's waters and calibrate the group.
Sebayur Kecil serves as the check dive — a sheltered reef with mild currents, healthy coral cover, and a surprising amount of life for a warm-up site. Your second dive brings the first encounter with Komodo's main attraction: Manta Point (Karang Makassar), a shallow drift over a 2 km rubble plateau where reef mantas congregate at cleaning stations. The boat anchors overnight in a calm bay inside the park.

- Night Dive
Today's route depends on the season and conditions. Your guides choose the option that delivers the best diving for the group.
April – October: Padar Island & surroundings
The morning starts at Three Sisters — a trio of submerged pinnacles draped in soft corals and patrolled by reef sharks and schools of fusiliers. After the dive, the group hikes to Padar Island's summit for the iconic panoramic viewpoint overlooking three bays of white, pink, and black sand. The afternoon brings two exploration dives at pristine, rarely visited sites around Padar, including Pillarsteen.
November – March: South Komodo & Nusa Kode
The expedition heads south into the park's wildest waters. Cannibal Rock is the centrepiece — a volcanic mound covered in crinoids, soft corals, and an extraordinary density of macro life: pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, frogfish. Yellow Wall follows with a vertical drift along a wall saturated in yellow and orange soft corals. The day finishes at Manta Alley, the southern tip of Komodo Island, where aggregations of 20 to 50 mantas are common in the plankton-rich channels.
3 dives + Padar hike (dry season) — or 3 dives in the deep south
- Panoramic Hike
- South Komodo
The morning dives explore remote sites in the southern Komodo area — sites chosen by the guides based on current and tide conditions, known for dramatic topography, pristine soft coral walls, and minimal boat traffic. After the dives, the boat anchors at Komodo Island for a ranger-guided trek through the savannah to observe Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. The rest of the afternoon is yours: the sun deck, a book, the view. Evening anchorage in a sheltered bay with sunset from the deck.
2 dives + Komodo dragon trek
1 Night Dive
- Komodo Dragon Trek
- Night Dive
The strongest day of diving. Pink Beach opens the morning with a gentle, colourful dive along the reef — soft corals, nudibranchs, and the surreal pink sand visible from the surface. The group then moves to Manta Point for a second chance to dive with the resident mantas. The day culminates at Batu Bolong — widely considered Komodo's single best dive site. A lone rock rising from deep water, its walls are covered in hard and soft corals and surrounded by an almost overwhelming density of fish: massive schools of surgeonfish, trevally, snapper, and patrolling reef sharks. The boat anchors overnight near Pink Beach or moves north depending on the following day's plan.
3 dives — Pink Beach, Manta Point, Batu Bolong
- Pink Beach
An optional early morning dive closes the expedition. Depending on conditions and position, the final site will be Mawan, Pengah, or one of the famous northern pinnacles — Castle Rock or Crystal Rock — where strong currents attract grey reef sharks, giant trevally, and dense schools of anthias. After the dive, brunch is served on board during the scenic cruise back to Labuan Bajo. Arrival at port by early afternoon, with transfers to the airport or your hotel.
Check-out: By 14:00 at Labuan Bajo harbour.
Flight planning: Book departures from 16:00 onwards to allow comfortable margin. A minimum 18-hour surface interval after the last dive is observed before flying.
2 to 3 dives + return cruise to Labuan Bajo
