3D/2N – Central & North Komodo

The expedition begins in Labuan Bajo, where the Shenron team welcomes you before boarding and departure into Komodo National Park. As the coastline fades behind you, the trip quickly settles into its rhythm: relaxed cruising, open sea, and the first glimpses of the islands that define one of the world’s most iconic diving destinations.

The opening dive is typically at Sebayur Kecil or Siaba, depending on conditions. Used as a check dive, it offers a gentle introduction to Komodo’s waters — healthy coral slopes, mild currents, and abundant reef life. The second dive moves deeper into Central Komodo, often toward sites such as Tatawa or Mawan, where the reefs become more vibrant and the marine life more dynamic.

If conditions allow, the day may end with a night dive, either around Siaba Island or further north, adding a completely different atmosphere to the trip. Under torchlight, Komodo reveals another side of itself: hunting trevallies, sleeping parrotfish, crustaceans, and the slower, more mysterious life of the reef after dark.

By evening, the boat anchors in a calm bay inside the park, and the first night on board begins.

2 dives + optional night dive — Check dive and first immersion into Central Komodo

The second day brings together the most iconic elements of the Komodo experience, both above and below the surface.

The morning usually begins at Batu Bolong, widely considered one of the finest dive sites in the park. Rising dramatically from deep water, this exposed pinnacle is covered in dense hard and soft corals and surrounded by an extraordinary concentration of life — schools of surgeonfish, snapper, fusiliers, giant trevally, and reef sharks patrolling the blue. It is one of those rare dives where every direction feels alive.

The second dive heads to Manta Point, where reef mantas gather over the wide rubble plateau and move between cleaning stations in the current. It is one of the signature moments of diving Komodo and, for many guests, one of the defining memories of the trip.

In the afternoon, the expedition shifts ashore for a ranger-guided trek on Komodo Island, offering the chance to observe the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. Back on board, the day slows into golden light, calm anchorage, and the atmosphere that makes liveaboard travel so memorable.

If conditions and timing permit, the evening may include a second night dive, often around Pink Beach, where the reef takes on an entirely different character after dark — quieter, stranger, and full of hidden detail.

2 dives + Komodo dragon trek + optional night dive

The final day is all about ending strong. Depending on weather, currents, and sea state, the route heads toward North Komodo for the most exhilarating dives of the trip.

If conditions allow, sites such as Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, or The Cauldron become the grand finale. These are the dives that define northern Komodo: current-swept pinnacles, dense schools of fish, hunting trevallies, reef sharks, and the raw pelagic energy that has made this region famous worldwide. Visibility is often excellent, and the sense of movement in the water is constant.

When northern conditions are not ideal, the guides may adapt the route toward Padar or another protected zone, always prioritising the best possible diving for the group rather than following a fixed schedule. That flexibility is part of what makes the expedition feel curated rather than routine.

After the final dives, lunch is served on board during the return cruise to Labuan Bajo. Arrival is usually in the late afternoon, with the trip ending around 5:30 PM.
