4D/3N – Komodo Discovery
Aboard Shenron
About This Trip
Four Days Through the Best of Komodo
Four days in Komodo strikes the perfect balance between intensity and immersion — long enough to reach the park’s most iconic dive sites, short enough to stay dynamic and effortless. This 4-day, 3-night expedition aboard Shenron pairs the vibrant heart of Central Komodo with either the dramatic northern pinnacles or the wild southern reefs, depending on the season.
With up to 11 dives and just 8 guests on board, the experience stays personal and unhurried — focused on exceptional diving, attentive guiding, and the freedom to enjoy Komodo at your own pace.
April–October, the route explores Central and Northern Komodo — Batu Bolong, Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, Manta Point — where nutrient-rich currents draw reef sharks, schooling fish, and electric energy. November–March, it turns south to the cooler, pristine seascapes of South Rinca and Nusa Kode, where softer, richer reefs and rare macro life reveal a quieter Komodo at sites like Cannibal Rock. Manta encounters feature on every departure.
Beyond diving, expect a ranger-guided walk to see the Komodo dragons, the vivid Pink Beach, and — conditions permitting — the iconic Padar Island viewpoint. On board, air-conditioned ensuite cabins, fresh meals, and a spacious sun deck create an intimate, boutique atmosphere far from the crowds of Labuan Bajo.
No rigid script, no rush — just four days of Komodo at its best.
A Word from the Pros
For comfort and safety, Advanced Open Water and Nitrox are strongly recommended. These certifications can also be completed on board during the trip.

Typical 4-day liveaboard itinerary aboard Shenron, departing from Labuan Bajo, with up to 11 dives.
Daily Itinerary
The expedition begins with a smooth transition from Labuan Bajo into the waters of Komodo National Park. After boarding Shenron and settling into your cabin, the boat cruises toward the first dive sites of the trip.
The opening dive is usually Sebayur Kecil, used as a check dive to ease the group into the conditions. Sheltered and full of life, it offers healthy coral cover, mild currents, and the perfect introduction to Komodo’s underwater world. The second dive takes place further into the park, often in the Central Komodo area or around Padar, depending on sea conditions and the seasonal route. By the end of the afternoon, the rhythm of life on board is already set: dive, eat, rest, repeat.
As the light softens, the boat anchors in a calm bay for dinner and the first night under the stars.
2 dives — Check dive and first immersion into the park
Today’s route depends on the season and conditions. Your guides choose the option that delivers the strongest diving and the most rewarding overall experience for the group.
April – October: Padar Island & surroundings
The day begins at Three Sisters, a trio of submerged pinnacles rising from deep water, covered in soft corals and surrounded by fusiliers, trevally, and reef sharks. After the morning dive, the group heads ashore for the Padar Island hike, climbing to the island’s iconic panoramic viewpoint overlooking its three famous bays. In the afternoon, the expedition continues with two dives at remote and rarely visited sites in the Padar area, including locations such as Pillarsteen, where steep underwater topography and vibrant reef life create a feeling of true exploration.
November – March: South Komodo & Nusa Kode
During the wet season, the route pushes deeper south into Komodo’s wildest waters. Cannibal Rock is the highlight — a volcanic seamount packed with crinoids, soft corals, and remarkable macro life, from pygmy seahorses to nudibranchs and frogfish. Yellow Wall follows with a colourful drift along a vertical reef saturated in yellow and orange soft corals. The day ends at Manta Alley, one of the park’s most dramatic manta sites, where large aggregations are often seen feeding and circling through the nutrient-rich southern channels.
3 dives + Padar hike (dry season) — or 3 dives in the deep south
- Padar Hike
This is a day that captures the full Komodo experience above and below the surface.
The morning begins with a ranger-guided trek to see the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. Walking through the dry savannah landscape of Komodo Island, you encounter the park’s most legendary inhabitants in the environment that made them famous.
Back on board, the focus returns to the diving. The first dive is often at Pink Beach, an easy and colourful reef where soft corals, reef fish, and occasional turtles drift above pale sand with the island’s pink shoreline visible from the surface. The second dive takes place at Manta Point, offering another opportunity to observe reef mantas as they circle through the cleaning stations. The third dive moves to one of Central Komodo’s gentler but beautiful sites — often Tatawa Besar or Siaba — where healthy reefs, soft corals, and turtles bring a slower, more relaxed rhythm to the day.
The boat anchors overnight in a protected bay, with the rest of the afternoon free to enjoy the sundeck, the scenery, and the stillness of the park at sunset.
3 dives + Komodo dragon trek
The final day is shaped around conditions, currents, and the success of the previous dives. Rather than following a rigid script, the guides choose the sites that will deliver the strongest finale for the group.
If conditions allow, the route may head toward North Komodo, where sites such as Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, or The Cauldron offer some of the most exhilarating diving in the park — current-swept pinnacles, dense schools of fish, reef sharks, and the electric energy that defines northern Komodo. If the route remains more central, the final dives may focus on iconic sites such as Batu Bolong, Mawan, or a last visit to Manta Point, depending on what the group has already experienced and where the conditions are at their best.
The final dive of the trip is completed around midday. Lunch is then served on board during the scenic cruise back to Labuan Bajo, with arrival in the early afternoon and transfer onward to your hotel or next destination.
3 dives — Final signature sites in Central or North Komodo, followed by return cruise to Labuan Bajo
